OOTD: Sugar and Spice, and All Things Nice!

I have returned! Gosh has this semester been busy. I could go on and on about it but who wants to hear me whine about how much trouble I'm having designing a mist eliminator for a desalination plant? Not many people? Good. Let's talk about fun things! :)

So I've been playing a little bit with the concept of 'sugar and spice' - styling a generically sweet or demure outfit with a hint of edge or 'spice', in the form of spikes, studs, leather and other such badassery. This time, I chose a pair of chunky boots which I accidentally received as a hand-me-down, so they won't be in my wardrobe for much longer, but I'll wear them here and there while I still can :P

I chose a winter outfit because it's still damn cold here in Australia! And that dress? Doesn't have a collar. Yes, that's right guys, it's a detachable collar, and it's AWESOME:

I bought this lovely accessory on eBay and use it mostly in the winter, since it's so snug.

So that's my take on the sugar and spice. Do you do anything to spice up your outfits? What can make or break a look?

Until next time,

This Thursday: Geek Gear

Just some items of clothing and accessories I like... even if they are a little bit on the geeky side.

Coffee of Doom (Questionable Content) Earrings

Role-Playing Yoga Pants (Well, they don't role-play I don't think)

Cute with leggings (but not the pants pictured above!)

Also, this shirt would be perfect for my partner who loves Guardians of The Galaxy.

How do you feel about showing off your interests with what you wear?

This Thursday: Wha?

There are some crazy articles of clothes out there. This has to be one of my favourite quirky designs even if I'm not sure I would ever purchase or wear a pair. Yes. These are leggings that have a skirt built in that is designed to look as if you have a flanno tied around your waist.

Tidbit Tuesday: Couple Outfits

Matching clothes with your SO for events etc is a pretty normal thing. A similar coloured to your tie etc. How do you feel about doing it with everyday clothing though? It was pretty surprising when I found the 'Couple' outfits section on yesstyle however while browsing through (purely out of curiosity), there was this super cute hoodie that I definitely want... just one for me!

Cute music guy hoodies!

Let us know in the comments if you like these and if you'd get just one for yourself or the matching set!

a mixin' and a matchin'

Mix n match!

Mix n match! by twoinsolitude featuring skinny jeans

Some items I'll be dying to get my hands on and wear when spring and summer comes! I can't wait for warmer weather....I've also been very very obsessed with all things white lately, going to do a haul soon I think....it will of course feature the colour white! :P

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend xx

Tidbit Tuesday: Boat Shoe Knot!

This is a nice way of using up additional length of laces. After you tie your usually knot, just follow these steps and voila! Super cute, finished look for your shoes. Particularly good for lace-up boots. The diagrams for tying this knot have been taken from Ian's Shoelace Site and you should really check out his other stuff!

This Thursday: Back on Track

Gosh, I've been absolutely terrible about blogging so for the sake of consistent content I'm going back to the old format. Sort of. At the very least, regular Tuesday and Thursday posts should return. Starting with this one! While I certainly intend to be better, I've definitely just been a little lazy. Fittingly, here's a 'lazy' hairstyle that I like though I confess I haven't been able to replicate it yet...although all you're meant to do is tie a double knot in your hair (yep, like the kind you use when you tie your shoes).

Messy Double Knot - It's meant to be easy!
